GC - Square Reduced Neck End Mills - For Mold Steel - 4-Flutes

Overview

GC Series Plastic Mold End Mills Crafted for semi-finishing and finishing of plastic mold steels. Made from ultra-fine grain carbide with TiAlSiN coating, these end mills deliver stable cutting, excellent wear resistance, and long tool life. The specialized reduced neck structure effectively prevents tool interference with the workpiece, making it particularly suitable for machining deep cavities and complex structures. This ensures smoother cutting and minimizes machining defects.

Substrate & Coating

  • Substrate: Ultrafine-grain carbide with a balanced combination of high hardness and toughness.
  • Coating: TiAlSiN nanocomposite coating — high surface hardness, excellent wear and high-temperature oxidation resistance, effectively extending tool life.

Cooling Recommendation

Optimized for air cooling or Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL); use flood coolant for heavy cuts. Dry cutting possible for short passes but not recommended long term.

Cutting Capability

  • Workpiece Hardness: ≤ HRC48
  • Typical Materials: P20 / 1.2311, 718 / 1.2738, 718H, NAK80, 4Cr13H, S136, 1.2085
  • Note: Not suitable for hardened steels exceeding HRC48 after heat treatment.

Edge & Flute Design

  • Edge honing to improve chipping resistance and toughness
  • Optimized 4-flute geometry for stable chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in side milling and slotting
